
Lucknow: The joint team of SWAT/Surveillance and Jangipur police in Ghazipur district on Thursday, arrested three members including a woman for cheating people in the name of providing jobs in government departments like health and Railways.
The arrested persons included Meeta Tiwari and her husband Ankush Tiwari and Kamlakant. The Tiwari couple has many addresses in Baluda (Chhattisgarh), Satna (MP), Prayagraj (UP), and Mahoba, while Kamlakant belongs to Ghazipur district.
The police recovered three fake joining letters from the Eastern Railway DRM office Sealdah, one letter of confirmation of a forged contract issued from the office of the director general, medical and health services, UP, a filled application form of a victim for a job in railway department, and three phones from them.
According to reports, the fraudsters pretend to be the secretary of the secretariat or the private secretary of a minister to cheat people, offering jobs from the ministerial quota. They used to collect huge amounts of money by giving people forged joining letters.
During the investigation, it came to light that this gang has cheated about half a dozen people so far and taken about Rs 25 lakh in the name of providing jobs.
Based on the complaints given by the victims, an FIR was lodged at Jangipur police station under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for cheating ), 471 (using a forged document as genuine) of IPC.
