Lucknow: Two women were allegedly assaulted by a group of drunk men and forced to dance at a birthday party in Panki area here.
The incident took place on Wednesday night, wherein one Monu Singh had organized his birthday party at a farmhouse in Ispatnagar area of Panki. It came to light on Friday when several videos of the incident went viral on social media.
As per the complainant, the women work as waitresses and dancers in parties and marriage functions. On Wednesday night, they were called only to work as waitresses at the birthday party of one Monu Singh, but a group of people present there asked them to dance. When the women refused, the people, who were in an inebriated state, misbehaved with them and beat them. Later, they called up 112 seeking help, but in vain.
It was only after they approached senior police officials, the local police initiated an investigation into the incident.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Akash Patel said some people have been detained in this connection and their interrogation is underway. “Further action will be taken on the basis of evidence and other necessary findings,” ADCP added.
