Lucknow: A youth hacked to death a man whom he suspected to be his mother’s paramour in Barabanki late on Friday night. The incident was reported from Subeha police station area in the district.
Police said that around 9.30 pm, they got a call about a man being injured badly with an axe in Mohalla haveli ward.
A police team reached the spot and found one Afsaf Hussain (50) in a pool of blood and took him to the hospital in Haidergarh where doctors declared him dead. According to the preliminary probe, it has surfaced that Afsaf allegedly had an illicit relationship with a woman, said Additional SP (south), Barabanki, Akhilesh Narayan Singh.
Singh said that the woman’s son Ashfaq (24) was the main culprit in the case and said that he had hacked the victim to death as he hated his mother’s relationship with the latter.
“We have arrested Ashfaq and he is being interrogated. The murder weapon has also been recovered,” said the ASP.
