Lucknow: A gang, which conducted recce during daytime by running kiosks and targeted elderly people in the evening in Indiranagar and Gomtinagar, was busted on Saturday.

The arrested persons were identified as gang leader Rahul Rawat (30), also known as ‘Tiger’, Dhrubo Bairagi (27) and Ansh Kashyap (18). Police recovered cash and valuables worth around Rs 5 lakh and claimed that it was looted in seven separate incidents of crime.

Police said that Rahul’s aides called him ‘Tiger’ as he used to snatch gold chains swiftly while riding the pillion. Ansh used to be on another bike and stood as guard.

Police said that the gang was busted on the basis of surveillance and tip off. Earlier, the mastermind worked at an apparel shop where he met two others and formed his own gang.

“The gang members changed registration plate of motorcycles used during loot and also changed their mobile phones and SIM cards frequently,” the officer said.

Police sources said that a month ago, the gang members had looted jewellery from a woman. The act was captured in a CCTV after which the criminals were nailed.
