4 girls charred to death as hut catches fire in Bareilly

Four minor girls, aged between 5 and 7 years, were charred to death after their thatched hut caught fire in Nawada Bilsandi village under Faridpur police station in UP's Bareilly

 

Lucknow: Four minor girls, aged between 5 and 7 years, were charred to death after their thatched hut caught fire in Nawada Bilsandi village under Faridpur police station in UP’s Bareilly on Friday. All the victims were cousins and were living in a joint family setup.

The girls were playing inside the hut near their farm when it caught fire. Family members and locals working in nearby fields tried to douse the blaze but in vain. Three girls died on the spot while another died in hospital.

After getting information about the incident, UP CM Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences. A compensation of Rs 16 lakh for the kin of the victims was announced by the state government.

The victims were identified as Priyanshi (5), Manvi (7), Neetu (6) and Naina (5). Manvi and Neetu were daughters of farmer Amitabh Pal while Priyanshi was the daughter of Amitabh’s younger brother Bhim Sen. Naina was the daughter of Sukhveer.

Additional SP (South) Manush Pareek said, “We immediately rushed to the spot after getting the information. A fire fighting team also arrived but the girls couldn’t be saved. Investigation is on to find out the cause of the fire.”
