23 more bodies were pulled out of a collapsed stepwell at a temple in Madhya Pradesh, India, bringing the death toll to 36. The structure at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal temple in Indore came down during Ram Navami celebrations, with 20 women, 12 men and four children among the dead. The chairman and secretary of the temple trust have been accused of culpable homicide. Survivors said that the top of the stepwell had been constructed without concrete reinforcements, and that overcrowding led to the collapse.
