The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will elect a new mayor and deputy mayor for the current financial year on Wednesday, as the ruling Aam Aadmi Party and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party continue to feud. The elections have been postponed three times due to political differences and violent scenes. The MCD, which was unified by the central government in May 2016, is yet to elect the powerful Standing Committee and zonal ward committees. The mayoral polls will be held by secret ballot, and the electoral college is made up of 250 elected councillors, 14 MLAs and 10 MPs.
