Jailed gangster Tillu Tajpuria was murdered in his Tihar prison cell by four inmates who allegedly belonged to his rival Gogi’s criminal group. The attack was an elaborately planned operation that underlined the frail state of security in India’s largest prison. The murder is the second in the prison complex in just 18 days and highlights the repeated security lapses in Tihar Jail. The police have booked the four assailants for murder, attempt to murder, and common intention. An inquiry has been launched to ascertain the precise sequence of events and identify the security lapses that paved the way for the attack.
