Lucknow. The 26-year-old restaurant worker who was hit by an SUV belonging to a gazetted police officer three days ago succumbed to injuries on Friday.
The victim, identified as Karan Singh, 26, was hit by an SUV belonging to a DySP rank police officer near Omaxe City turn in Kalli Paschim locality on Rae Bareli road on July 4.
He was admitted to Apex Trauma Centre of SGPGI.
Following Karan’s death, the victim’s kin reached the SGPGI police station on Friday and lodged an FIR lodged against the SUV owner.
Victim’s mother Kamla Devi said, “My son used to work at Maa Vaishno restaurant in PGI police station area. On the fateful day, he was going on his two-wheeler. While he was turning towards Kalli Paschim, a speeding SUV bearing the insignia of Uttar Pradesh government and red-blue beacon hit my son,” alleged Kamla.
The collision was so strong that Karan was tossed several metres away.
Station house officer, PGI, RR Singh said that an FIR under relevant sections had been lodged and the vehicle had been seized.
Police sources said that the vehicle belonged to a deputy SP posted in Barabanki. Further investigations are on in the case, they said.
