Lucknow: Unable to deal with rejection after his wedding fixed with a local girl was called off recently, 25-year-old Rajkaran Sharma, a resident of Ayodhya’s Haidergarh, decided to scar her for life.
Taking advantage of his acquittance with the girl, Sharma entered her house in the middle of the night on the pretext of having a conversation. However, his intentions were as clear as the acid he carried in a glass bottle tucked in his pocket. After splashing it on her body and face, Sharma walked out of the house’s front door as she lay writhing in pain late on Monday.
He was arrested on Tuesday.
The girl who suffered serious burn injuries was referred to Lucknow trauma centre in a critical condition.
Ayodhya IG Pravin Kumar said, “The accused was known to the girl and his entry to the house wasn’t forced.”
“We will file the chargesheet in the court in two days and we will get the accused convicted in 15-20 days,” the IG said.
