Lucknow: A “16-year-old boy” allegedly barged into his neighbour’s house from the terrace and raped a 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district. The sexual assault took place on Tuesday midnight in a village in Tappal area of the district, police said on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the victim, a class 4 dropout, was home alone as her parents were out to attend a jagran (religious event) in the locality. When they reached home, the girl, who was in a distressed state, informed them that she had been sexually abused. The parents immediately informed the police and filed a complaint in the matter.
SHO of Tappal police station Pankaj Mishra said, “Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, a case under relevant sections, including 376 (rape), of IPC has been registered in the matter. The complainant claimed that the accused boy is 16 years old. We are trying to ascertain the actual age of the accused and looking for relevant documents for the same.”
“The girl has been sent for a medical examination. Further probe is underway,” the SHO said, adding that appropriate action will be taken if the accused is found to be a minor.
