The Chinese minister’s disappearance has fueled speculation that she was having an affair with television anchor Fu Xiaotian. Fu is a well-known television anchor and producer for Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV. She is the host of the Hong Kong broadcaster’s ‘Talk with World Leaders’ program. According to the information, till now she has interviewed more than 300 politicians including ambassadors of 50 countries. These include former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Fu and their infant son have not been seen with Qin for some time. A Cambridge University graduate, Fu is one of the best-known personalities on Chinese television and frequently interviews the country’s top officials. This led to rumors, especially in the Taiwan and Hong Kong press, that the two might be having an affair. Social media users pointed to an interview, which took place in Washington DC in March last year, in which Qin and Fu were behaving like a couple.
