UP ATS ARRESTS ABSCONDING MAN FOR CIRCULATING FAKE INDIAN CURRENCY NOTES

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UPATS) arrested the mastermind of pan-India Fake Indian Currency note (FICN) from Varanasi on Friday.

The accused arrested was identified as Subhash Mandal (26) of West Bengal and was carrying Rs 50,000 reward on any information leading to his arrest.
The accused Subhash Mandal was arrested by the Varanasi unit of ATS from Mohansarai Police Station Rohania area of Varanasi on Friday. 

The accused was further taken to Naini police station in police Commissionerate Prayagraj, as he was wanted in an FIR registered against him in 2022.

Special DG, law and order, Prashant Kumar, said that accused Subhash Mandal used to smuggle high quality Indian currency notes illegally printed in Pakistan to different states of India with the help of his associates from India-Bangladesh international border.

Police sources said that Mandal was part of a pan-India gang circulating fake Indian currency notes.

 On August 10, 2018 Mandal, and his aides Madan Lal harijan, Bablu Chaurasiya, Vishwajeet Sarkar, Acchelal and Vishal were intercepted by the police of Naini and were found to be in possession of fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 3.4 lakh, said the police. Barring Mandal, all were arrested.

Police sources added that Mandal was on the run since then and was hiding in different parts of the country including Maharashtra, South India and finally when he got exhausted of hiding came allegedly for an assignment in Varanasi and was arrested.
