Lucknow: Police have arrested five people including three transgenders after videos of them beating a man and forcing him to drink urine went viral on social media. The 32-year-old man was tonsured and robbed of Rs 10,000. The incident occurred in Basai village under the Shahwar police station limits in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district. People working in nearby fields came to the victim’s rescue when they discovered the perpetrators attempting to castrate him.
According to police, the incident was an outcome of rivalry between two groups of eunuchs in the area. The victim, identified as Rafikul, works as a cook at the residence of a leader from one group of eunuchs in the Imambaksh area. The police have registered an FIR against the five accused under IPC sections 395 (dacoity), 294 (obscene acts), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). The incident occurred on July 27 while Rafikul was returning home, said officials.
In a similar incident that occurred earlier this month, a man was seen urinating on an injured person covered in blood lying unconscious on the road. The 30-second video of the incident also showed the youth kicking the injured man in the head while verbally abusing him. After the purported video went viral on social media, Agra police swung into action and arrested two accused.
