
Lucknow: Two gig workers of a food delivery chain company were killed in a road accident while they were on way back home at Shaheed Path on Monday night.
Police said the victims identified as Akash Lodhi (18) and Ajay Lodhi (21) of Itaunja were hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle near Ekana stadium.
“Due to heavy impact both suffered critical injuries and were pronounced dead when they were brought to RMLIMS hospital in the area. First their postmortem was done and thereafter the police sent their bodies to their homes,” said a police officer.
While narrating the sequence of events, the locals informed police that the two were on a bike and suddenly hit from behind. The impact was so strong that the two were tossed up and thrown on the road getting carried away for five meters before being hit with a divider.
The two were first taken to a private hospital by the commuters and declared brought dead. After that police took them to RMLIMS for autopsy. Later, bodies of the victims reached their homes, a gloom descended on the village. Ajay was the only child in his family while Akash is survived by two brothers and his family.
Ajay’s father Ishwadeen Lodhi of Harda village in the area said Akash was his brother’s son. “I got the news of the accident around 12.30am on Tuesday and we rushed to the scene and later took both to the hospital,” he said.
SHO, Sushant Golf City, Atul Srivastava, said that efforts are on to trace the unidentified vehicle and the CCTVs were being scanned.
