The state government will now give subsidy ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 4 crore for setting up micro, small and medium industries in the hilly areas of the state. The new MSME policy was approved in the cabinet meeting. The special thing is that the government will give 10 percent additional subsidy to those who set up local level raw material industries.
The new MSME policy was approved in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday. Under this, instead of five, four categories have been created. A-category includes those districts which are completely mountainous and have maximum height.

B-category will have such hilly districts, which are relatively less accessible. C and D are plains category. Subsidy will be available on investment in A-category from 50 lakh to 4 crore, in B-category 40 lakh to 3 crore, in C-category 30 lakh to 2 crore and in D-category 20 lakh to 1.5 crore. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu said that the government will give 10 percent additional subsidy to those setting up raw material based industries such as fruit processing unit, liquor from fruits, Pirul based industries in hilly districts. The government has separated the service sector in the new policy, its benefits will be available only for manufacturing industries.
