Lucknow: A 3-year-old girl, who went missing in the wee hours on Saturday, was found dead in an empty plot, around 300 metres away from her house at Parmeshwarpur Navapar village in Chiluatal area here on Monday.
The little girl, who was sleeping next to her mother Manita on Saturday night, went missing in the wee hours. Soon after, her family members searched for her with the help of police.The area where the girl’s body was found has a 7-foot-high boundary wall. It is suspected that the girl was murdered and after that her body was dumped in the empty plot, police said.
SSP Gaurav Grover along with a team of police, forensic and dog squad reached the scene to investigate. After preliminary investigation, police sent the body for post-mortem. However, there were no signs of any injury on the body. Police said she might have been strangled to death, though the motive behind the murder is yet to be determined.
The deceased’s mother Manita had married one Mangaru of Nagwa Jaitapur area of GIDA, five years ago after the suicide of her first husband. Following dispute, Manita left her husband’s house and came back to her parents house three years ago.
Sources said on Saturday night, Manita was sleeping with her daughter Roshni at her parents’ house. When she woke up around 4am, her daughter was missing. After failing to find her daughter, Manita registered a missing report. On Monday morning, the child’s maternal uncle Gyanendra and his wife Nisha went out to search for her and found the girl’s body in the empty plot. Soon after, the family members called up the police.
According to the police, there was a dispute between the girl’s maternal uncle Gyanendra and his parents. Gyanendra’s father had even ousted him from the house, following which he has been living with his wife Nisha in the nearby. On the other hand, the deceased girl’s mother is pregnant and it is alleged that she has an illicit relationship with someone else. SP, North, Manoj Kumar Awasthi said a comprehensive investigation is being conducted into the incident from all the angles.
