Schengen is a short-term (up to 90 days) visa that allows a person to travel to 27 countries in Europe (any member state of the Schengen Area) for tourism or business purposes.Schengen visa processing time for travel to Germany has been reduced to eight weeks. Georg Enzweiler, deputy chief of mission at the German Embassy, told on Wednesday that efforts are still on to reduce it further. George said, we are trying to reduce the processing time of the application further. We want to change it from today to tomorrow but bureaucracy affects it. We are working on this through various means. We have expanded our range. He said that most of the staff are in Mumbai and the waiting time has come down considerably. Now visas are available in about eight weeks.
