
Lucknow: A man killed his wife and hid the body in the tickets in Gosaiganj police station area on Saturday.
After some of the residents spotted the body, the news of murder of a woman flew thick and wide and a police team reached the scene for investigation of the case. The woman was pronounced dead after the doctors examined her.
Additional DCP South, Shashank Singh, said the woman was identified as Mamta Pal of the Rasoolput Ashiq in the area.
He said the police had arrested Mamta’s husband Sooraj for murder. “Sooraj confessed to his crime and said he had a difference with Mamta over some issue and he strangled her to death by her saree at the house. After murdering her, he hid the body in the tickets which was later recovered by the police,” the ADCP said.
The police said Mamta was married to Sooraj eight years back. Reports said both Sooraj and Mamta started fighting on some issue and later reached a drain near their house. The villagers who were acquainted with their routine fight did not spare time to counsel them and they got busy in their work. In fits of rage, Soraj strangled her to death and hid the body before fleeing the scene.
The sources said Sooraj got nervous after killing his wife and he informed his relatives about the incident. The relative later called the gram pradhan who informed the police about the murder and a team reached the scene for investigation.
