Man thrashed after being tried to a tree, nine booked

Lucknow: An FIR has been lodged against nine persons on Thursday for thrashing a 25-year-old man after tying him to a tree at Bahuta village under the limits of Patti police station of Pratapgarh district in the intervening night of August 13 and 14.

The police swung into action when a video of the incident went viral on social media on Thursday.

Sub inspector Hari Mohan said the victim Ravi Soni of Ramapur was visiting his maternal uncle’s house in the village.

“On August 13 night, Ravi had apparently entered the house of one Akhtar of the same village. When Akhtar raised an alarm about the suspicious entry, locals including Saqid, Atqul Rehman, Sabir, Imtiyaz, Guddu, Mahesh Pal and others caught Ravi and tied him to a tree.
