If he became an IITian, he did not become the God of the country…’, CM Gehlot said on the suicide of children in Kota

In Rajasthan’s Kota district, 21 children who came with the dream of becoming a doctor-engineer committed suicide in eight months. CM Ashok Gehlot has expressed concern over the increasing cases of student suicides in Kota on Friday. During this, he also reprimanded the coaching operators. The CM has ordered the officials to form a committee to give suggestions to stop them.

Gehlot said, the committee comprising all stakeholders including representatives of coaching institutes, parents and doctors will submit its report in 15 days. Speaking at a review meeting on cases of suicides among IIT and NEET aspirants in coaching hub Kota, CM Gehlot referred to the burden on students studying in classes IX and X.

‘Dummy class is held in school’
CM Gehlot said in a meeting with the managers of the coaching institute, I cannot see children dying in Kota anymore. Repair the system now. Admission of ninth pass children is shown in the school there, dummy classes are held. The child does both school and coaching together. If he became an IITian, then the child did not become any god?

‘Additional burden falls on children’
CM Gehlot said, enrolling class nine and 10 students in coaching institutes puts extra burden on them. Because they also have to give board exams. Gehlot said, you call students of class 9th and 10th, you are committing a crime in a way. It seems as if IIT is God. Students are enrolled in fake schools as soon as they come in coaching, this is also the fault of the parents.

The Chief Minister asked why the highest number of suicide cases in the city were from the Allen Coaching Institute, when he was told that 14 of the 21 students who died by suicide in Kota this year were from the same institute. The CM was also informed that Allen Institute has the largest number of students.

A representative of the institute told during the meeting, the coaching institutes do not call class 9 or 10 students. But the education system is such that parents want better options for their children. On this, Gehlot said that he is not targeting any particular institute, but wants to know why most suicides happen in the institute?
