G Madhavan Nair, the former Chairman of ISRO, expressed his anticipation and caution in the lead-up to the expected touchdown of the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s lander module on the lunar surface this Wednesday. Nair labeled the forthcoming event as an intricate and challenging maneuver, emphasizing the necessity for all systems to harmoniously collaborate for a successful outcome.
Nair, who led ISRO during the launch of Chandrayaan-1 mission in 2008, underlined that a triumphant landing would mark a significant commencement for ISRO’s upcoming phase of planetary exploration.
Reflecting on the upcoming event, Nair stated, “Executing this maneuver is a very complex task. We narrowly missed achieving a soft landing on the Moon during the Chandrayaan-2 mission, with just two kilometers left in the descent above the lunar surface,”
