In a mutual understanding, India and China have decided not to establish new posts in close proximity to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Discussions during the Major General-level talks held at Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) and Chushul included identifying specific patrolling limits. These discussions also encompassed the commitment to avoid increasing troop numbers along the LAC.
Sources indicate that both nations have committed to refraining from violating each other’s airspace with drones, outlining the ‘boundaries’ of patrolling, sharing prior information regarding patrols, strictly adhering to border protocols, and maintaining the integrity of buffer zones where troops have been reduced. The meeting between India and China took place on the Indian side of the LAC at the Chushul-Moldo border point. Although the Pangong Tso, Gogra, and Hot Springs areas have witnessed disengagement, tensions persist in the Depsang plains and Demchok region.
