Iconic India Club in London to Close Doors After Historic Battle

The India Club in London, a historic establishment rooted in the Indian independence movement and a gathering place for nationalists, is set to cease operations next month following an extended struggle to remain open, according to reports on Monday.

Having successfully fought to prevent the demolition of the building situated in the heart of London’s Strand a few years ago, the revered venue known for its meetings and dining facilities has now received a notice from the property owners, compelling its closure in favor of a modernized hotel development.

Owners Yadgar Marker and his daughter Phiroza initiated a “Save India Club” campaign as they waged a battle to sustain its existence, but they have reluctantly announced its imminent closure. “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the India Club’s closure, with our final day of welcoming the public scheduled for September 17,” they shared.
