The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has released a cautionary advisory for its citizens and students currently residing in Canada. The advisory comes in response to the escalating instances of anti-India activities and the increasing prevalence of politically-endorsed hate crimes and violence within Canada.
The official statement from the MEA reads, “Due to the rising incidents of anti-India activities, politically-sanctioned hate crimes, and criminal violence in Canada, we strongly advise all Indian nationals residing in or planning to visit Canada to exercise extreme caution. Recent threats have specifically targeted Indian diplomats and members of the Indian community who oppose the anti-India agenda. Therefore, we recommend that Indian citizens refrain from traveling to areas in Canada that have witnessed such incidents.”
The Indian government’s advisory serves as a reminder for its nationals to prioritize their safety and well-being while in Canada in light of the current circumstances.
