Intense rainfall has caused severe flooding in numerous areas of Nagpur city, resulting in the rescue of 180 individuals, including 40 students from a school for the hearing and speech-impaired,

According to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday.

Both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been actively involved in the rescue operations, evacuating residents from waterlogged residences and streets. Additionally, two Army units are en route to the Ambazari region, which has been affected by the overflowing of a lake, as reported by Fadnavis.

Starting from midnight on Friday, the city has experienced continuous heavy rainfall. The meteorological department has indicated that Nagpur airport recorded 106 mm of rainfall up until 5:30 am.
