The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has achieved a significant milestone in the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project

They have successfully completed a 350-meter-long mountain tunnel located near Zaroli village in Gujarat’s Valsad district, which is part of the country’s inaugural high-speed rail corridor.

In commemoration of this achievement, the NHSRCL conducted a final blast to clear the remaining layers of rock near the tunnel’s entrance. Ensuring the tunnel’s alignment remains perfectly straight was a critical challenge for the project team, given that the bullet train is expected to operate at a speed of 350 kmph. Even the slightest deviation from the specified alignment could have adverse consequences. S P Mittal, the Chief Project Manager of the Valsad section, emphasized the meticulous attention to detail required, with no room for even a single millimeter of deviation from the prescribed specifications.
