Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to give the status of aquatic animal of the state to Gangetic Dolphin from Mustafabad in Pilibhit. He said that efforts should be made to keep ponds and rivers pure. Gangetic dolphins are found in the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Chambal Ghaghra, Rapti, Gerua etc. in the state. According to an estimate, the number of Gangetic dolphins in the state is around 2000.
