Electricity Theft: The most significant incidents of electricity theft are reported in some districts of Uttar Pradesh, prompting the electricity department to compile a list of culprits.

According to the statistics, there are 351,421 electricity consumers in the district. Of these, 281,222 consumers belong to rural areas, where approximately 1.42 million units of electricity are consumed each month. What’s noteworthy is that 20 to 22 percent of electricity is being stolen, meaning that the department was incurring losses of millions of rupees every month. The department has been taking timely actions against electricity theft, conducting raids, and filing reports to curb such activities.
