This time in the wedding season, traders are expecting big business. Traders have started preparations to make big sales in the upcoming wedding season. According to a report, 35 lakh marriages are expected to take place across the country in the year 2023. It has been said in the report that a business of about Rs 4.25 lakh crore can be done in 35 lakh marriages taking place across the country. Which will be the highest turnover till date.
National President of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) BC Bhartia said that CAIT’s research arm CAT Research and Trade Development Society has recently served among traders and service providers of 20 major cities of the country. According to this survey, more than 35 lakh marriages are expected to take place in Delhi alone this season. There will be a business of about Rs 1 lakh crore in Delhi this season. Last year, during the same period, around 32 lakh marriages took place.
This is the auspicious time
Chairman of CAT’s Spiritual and Vedic Knowledge Committee and renowned Vedic scholar Acharya Durgesh Tare said that according to the calculations of constellations, the marriage dates will start from Devuthani Ekadashi, 23rd November. The auspicious time for marriage is on 23rd, 24th, 27th, 28th and 29th November. Whereas in the month of December, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 15th are auspicious for marriage. After that the star sets for one month. Auspicious days will start once again from mid-January.
There will be an estimated expenditure of Rs 3 lakh per marriage in about 6 lakh marriages in this wedding season. For 10 lakh marriages, the expenditure will be around Rs 6-12 lakh per marriage. In 6 lakh marriages, Rs 25 lakh will be spent per marriage, in 50 thousand marriages, Rs 50 lakh will be spent per marriage and in 50 thousand marriages there will be expenditure in which Rs 1 crore or more will be spent. In this one month wedding season, there will be a business of around Rs 4.25 lakh crore from wedding shopping in the markets. After this, the wedding season will start once again from January 15.
Businessmen busy preparing for weddings
In view of the good business prospects in the wedding season, businessmen across the country have made extensive preparations. In view of the possible rush of customers, traders are keeping all the arrangements in order. About 20 percent of the expenditure of every marriage goes to the bride and groom’s side, while 80 percent of the expenditure goes to the agencies involved in conducting the marriage.
Before the wedding season, there is business of repairing houses and painting houses. Apart from this, there is business of jewellery, sarees, lehengas, furniture, readymade clothes, shoes, wedding and greeting cards etc. Dry fruits, sweets, fruits, puja items, grocery, food grains, decorative items, home decor items, electrical utilities, electronics and many gift items etc. also see a surge in demand during the wedding season. Good earnings are expected in all these sectors this year.
Banquet halls, hotels, open lawns, community centres, public parks, farm houses and many other types of venues are fully prepared for weddings across the country including Delhi. Apart from procurement of props, every wedding also involves a variety of services including tent decorator, flower arrangement, crockery, catering service, travel service, cab service, reception of professional groups, vegetable vendors, photographers, videographers, bands, etc. There is a possibility of big business this time from services like Baja, Shehnai, Orchestra, DJ, horses for procession, carriages, lights and many other types of services. Along with this, event management has also emerged as a big business possibility.
