Congress leader Milind Deora on Wednesday said that due to the split between Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), his party has emerged as the largest opposition force in Maharashtra and it is now joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Will lead the fight against BJP) and its allies.

Deora said that no one could have imagined that Congress and Shiv Sena (undivided), which were ideological rivals for decades, would come together, but it happened in 2019. Their alliance brought some opportunities and challenges for the Congress. After the 2019 assembly elections, Shiv Sena (undivided), NCP and Congress formed an alliance named Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which fell last year.
