Love triangle murder: Social media update on relationship led to rift

Lucknow: A day after a 29-year-old MNC worker was killed over an alleged love triangle, police claimed that a WhatsApp status declaration about his relationship led to his murder.

This online declaration ignited tension with Monish Ahmed (25), another man involved with the same woman, said the police.

The arrested accused – Monish Ahmed (25) and his brother Faizal Ahmed (24) – were enraged after reading the status updated by MNC staff Abhinandan Kumar about his relationship with a woman co-worker, police said.

Abhinandan was in contact with and used to talk to the same woman with whom Monish Ahmed was also involved. This resulted in multiple altercations between them. In a fit of anger on Wednesday night, Monish, accompanied by his brother Faizal, reached DAV College and attacked Abhinandan with a sharp-edged weapon hitting him on the head and chest, police said.

Naka Hindola SHO Tej Bahadur Singh, said that a probe has revealed that Abhinandan had made his relationship with the woman public on social media. The update enraged Monish who first tried to talk it out with Abhinandan, but he remained unmoved.

“Monish then decided to teach him a lesson. He along with his brother Faizal brutally attacked Abhinandan,” said the SHO.

“We are searching for the two others who had attacked Abhinandan on the fateful day,” he said.

The post-mortem revealed around 20 wounds on Abhinandan’s body caused by a sharp-edged iron rod.
