Patna: BJP, recognizing the need for general elections, has allied with Nitish Kumar. The BJP aims to consolidate the extremely backward votes through Nitish. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA had won 39 out of the state’s 40 seats. Now, with Nitish returning to the NDA, the BJP will attempt to repeat or surpass that performance. However, the party’s real challenge will begin after the general elections. The party is aware that considering the anti-incumbency sentiment against Nitish, going with him in the 2025 Assembly elections won’t be easy. This was evident in the 2020 Assembly elections. Additionally, it’s clear this time that the state unit of Bihar was not in favor of an alliance with Nitish Kumar. In this situation, it won’t be easy for the BJP to maintain political balance with Nitish Kumar. However, the party’s current priority is to run the government smoothly for the next three months without any controversy, ensuring that no adverse message is sent ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
