Son “Cremated” Returns Home Alive, Leaving Family and Village Astounded
Lucknow: In a bizarre turn of events, a young man from Saharanpur, Pramod Kumar, returned home on Thursday night, leaving his family and village in shock. Just two weeks prior, on January 31st, they had performed his last rites after mistaking him for another deceased individual.
Kumar, 27, had left home for a job in Haridwar without a phone, leaving his family worried.
On January 31st, news arrived of a young man resembling Kumar found deceased in Muzaffarnagar.
His father, Chandra Prajapati, rushed to Muzaffarnagar and identified the body based on a photograph and “identification marks,” including a tattoo.
The body was cremated the same night, and all funerary rituals were completed under the belief it was Pramod. Meanwhile, Kumar, unaware of the tragic events, continued his work in Haridwar.
Upon returning home on Thursday, he was astounded to find his picture adorned with garlands and his family grieving. The initial shock soon turned into disbelief and immense joy as the family realized their son was alive.
Kumar himself expressed confusion at the situation, describing his surprise upon finding himself seemingly mourned as deceased.
The village ex-head confirmed the initial ghost-related rumours before clarifying the misidentification.
The police are now investigating the identity of the deceased individual mistakenly cremated as Pramod Kumar.
This extraordinary story highlights the dangers of misidentification and the emotional turmoil it can cause. It serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough verification and investigation, especially in sensitive situations.
