In May-June 2029, there is a possibility of implementing a “One Nation, One Election” plan. Sources suggest that the committee chaired by Justice (Retired) Rituraj Awasthi will recommend a constitutional amendment to introduce a new chapter or section on elections simultaneously. The proposal includes a five-year period with three phases, during which the terms of legislative assemblies will be synchronized. The idea of “One Nation, One Election” is not new.
