Kolkata: The West Bengal government has challenged the High Court’s verdict, which found three of its top officials guilty of contempt of court, in the Division Bench. Justice Rajashekhar Mantha had ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate a case against the state’s Chief Secretary B.P. Gopalika, Home Secretary Nandini Chakravarti, and Additional Director General (CID) R. Rajashekharn for their failure to hand over the investigation responsibility. The contempt order was passed on March 15 after they failed to appear before the court to explain their reasons. They have been asked to appear before the full bench on April 5 to state their case.
