The police have arrested a retired officer of the Sri Lankan Army on charges of being involved in sending former soldiers to Russia. Sri Lankan ex-servicemen were sent to serve in the Russian army amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Several youths from India have also been recruited into the Russian army under false pretenses.
