
Lucknow, April 13 (IANS) The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has launched a significant initiative to turn schools into active centres of women empowerment.
Under the Nari Shakti Vandan Abhiyan, a five-day special campaign will be organised across the state from April 16 to 20, focusing on building confidence, leadership qualities, and awareness among girl students.
According to an order issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of Basic and Secondary Education, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, extensive activities will be held in all council schools and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas during this period.
The campaign aims to empower girls at the grassroots level by promoting self-confidence, social participation, and a sense of leadership from their school days onward.
The Nari Shakti Vandan Abhiyan will begin on April 16 as Nari Shakti Vandan Diwas. On this day, the parents of girl students who have maintained an attendance of more than 70 per cent will be honoured in all council schools.
In Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, girl students and female teachers will form a Nari Shakti Human Chain.
Special programmes related to women’s empowerment will also be organised at the development block level.
On April 17, the focus will shift to physical and mental development. Yoga sessions, sports competitions, and discipline-based programmes will be conducted.
Self-defence demonstrations under the Rani Lakshmibai Self-Defence Training will be held, along with drill performances by National Cadet Corps, Scout, and Guide girl students to showcase discipline and bravery.
Cultural activities such as short plays, folk songs, and folk dances based on the lives of eminent women personalities will give girls an opportunity to express their talent and build confidence.
April 20 will be dedicated to creativity and intellectual expression. Essay writing, self-composed poetry, poster-making, rangoli, and mehendi competitions will be organised under the theme “Empowered Women, Prosperous India”.
A debate competition will also be held on topics such as the impact of the Nari Shakti Vandan Conference on future generations and the role of women in building a developed India.
Through these varied activities, the government intends to strengthen leadership skills, self-expression, and the spirit of self-reliance among girl students. All schools have been directed to ensure the effective and enthusiastic implementation of the campaign at every level.
The five-day Abhiyan is expected to create widespread awareness and inspire thousands of girls across Uttar Pradesh to dream bigger and contribute meaningfully to society.
