Pakistani forces forcibly disappear another five civilians in Balochistan

Quetta, May 26 (IANS) Another five civilians were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, a leading human rights organisation said on Tuesday.

Paank, the Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department, mentioned that 19-year-old Haji Muhammad Karim was taken during a late-night raid on his residence in the Killi Ismail area in the provincial capital Quetta in the early hours of May 22 by personnel of Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

Expressing grave concern over the continuing rise in enforced disappearances across Balochistan, the rights body called on the Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose Karim’s whereabouts and ensure his safe release.

In a separate incident, Paank revealed that another civilian, Nawab, was forcibly disappeared on May 21 from the Chitkan Bazaar area in Panjgur district by personnel of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) and state-backed local death squads, while he was on his way home.

The rights body also strongly condemned the enforced disappearance of 20-year-old student Sudais Baloch. Sudais was reportedly abducted during a late-night raid on his home in Killi Ismail in Quetta on May 20 by personnel of the CTD.

Additionally, 23-year-old Mir Chakar Marri was reportedly taken on the night of May 14, 2026, from the Main Bazar area of Harnai district by the CTD.

Amid the continued targeting of Baloch students and youth through enforced disappearances across Balochistan, Paank mentioned that 22-year-old student Muhammad Sharif was forcibly disappeared on May 6 from Munir Ahmed Road in Quetta by CTD.

Highlighting the atrocities against civilians across Balochistan, the rights body on Monday revealed that the dead body of 21-year-old driver Muhsin was recovered from the Paroom region in Panjgur district on May 19, nearly 66 days after he was forcibly disappeared.

According to Paank, Muhsin was forcibly disappeared on March 16 from the Jeerak crossing point in Panjgur by personnel of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps and was later killed during detention.

The rights body also strongly condemned the targeted killing of 27-year-old Mehran Baloch by Pakistan-backed death squads on May 21 in the Surap Bazaar area of Buleda in Kech district.

“His killing has added another grieving family to the growing number of Baloch families suffering from violence and loss across Balochistan,” it noted.

Balochistan continues to reel under relentless atrocities by the Pakistani forces, marked by enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch civilians at an unprecedented level.
