Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ said that the state has built its credibility and trust among investors through dialogue, facilitation, and continuous support. He stated, “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is developing an industrial environment where investors are not only invited to invest but are also provided with the necessary support and handholding until their industries are established.”
Addressing the knowledge session titled “From Your Factory to the Front Line” on the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor during the fourth day of the UP International Trade Show at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, the minister said that the growing international confidence in Uttar Pradesh is the result of roadshows conducted across various countries and major cities, along with continuous dialogue with investors. He added that the participation of various countries in the UP International Trade Show also reflects this growing dialogue and trust.
Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ informed that the six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, namely Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Aligarh, and Agra, have so far received investment proposals worth nearly ₹40,000 crore, while around 1,142 hectares of land have already been allotted to various industries.
He said, “The government’s priority is to create a system in which investors do not have to run from one office to another carrying files. Once an investor arrives in the state, their requirements should be understood and solutions provided through coordination with the relevant departments and officials.”
Nandi said that merely providing land to an investor is not enough. Investors should also receive support in matters of policy, connectivity, infrastructure, testing, technical facilities, and other necessary permissions. He urged officials to link investor facilitation with office functioning and conduct.
The minister said, “The defence sector does not mean only manufacturing tanks, missiles, or aircraft. Opportunities exist for industries across the entire supply chain, including precision components, electronic circuits, sensors, batteries, specialised cables, software, technical textiles, advanced materials, packaging, and logistics.”
He noted, “A defence manufacturing ecosystem is being developed across the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor’s nodes in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Aligarh, and Agra. Large industries, along with MSMEs, startups, component manufacturers, and technology companies, can also benefit from it.”
The minister said that three things are important for investment: connectivity, law and order, and trust. He said, “Better expressways and transportation networks, air connectivity, and industrial infrastructure have increased business opportunities in the state.”
According to him, the government’s effort is to make business processes more convenient and reduce unnecessary legal complexities. The relationship between industry and government, he said, should be based on cooperation and partnership.
Nandi called upon investors to join the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and connect with UPEIDA, saying that India’s growing needs in the defence sector are creating new possibilities for industries in the state. He added that the government stands with investors step by step, and continuous efforts are being made so that their investments, in a secure environment, can contribute to the expansion of production, employment, and technical capability.

Retired Colonel Sanjay Singh, Chief General Manager of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor, said, “Opportunities in the defence sector are not limited to large companies that manufacture tanks, missiles, and aircraft. Industries in fields including precision engineering, electronics, sensors, batteries, special cables, software, advanced materials, packaging, and logistics can become part of the defence supply chain.”
He said that, unlike the general market, defence-sector demand is not estimate-based but rests on the defined requirements of the armed forces, so clear market prospects exist for indigenous manufacturing. He urged industries to assess their existing manufacturing capacity and identify which defence-sector requirement they can fulfil.
He informed that the UP Defence Industrial Corridor is developing an ecosystem with land, testing facilities, R&D, and investor facilitation, in which MSMEs and startups, along with large industries, can also connect to the defence supply chain.
