Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday honored police personnel who demonstrated exemplary courage, valor and devotion to duty by conferring gallantry medals on them. On the occasion, CM also released ‘Sangharsh’, a book by former DGP of UP Prakash Singh.
Paying tribute to the supreme sacrifice made in the line of police service, CM honored Munes Devi, wife of martyred STF Inspector Sunil Kumar, by presenting her with a cash amount and an angavastram. Inspector Sunil Kumar had displayed exemplary courage in an encounter in Jhinjhana area of Shamli on January 20, 2025, in which four criminals were killed. He attained martyrdom while performing his duty. On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, the government also announced that it would confer the Kirti Chakra posthumously on him.
