A curfew has been reinstated in the entire Imphal Valley due to violent protests demanding the release of five individuals,

The protests in the Imphal Valley were led by self-styled vigilante groups, including the ‘Meira Paibis,’ who demanded the unconditional release of these five individuals. The situation escalated on Thursday, leading to clashes between protesters and security forces. Over 10 people were injured as security forces resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse the protesters who attempted to storm police stations.

The curfew has been imposed to maintain law and order in the region and prevent further unrest.
