The rising prices of onion before Diwali have once again troubled the public. Onion prices are skyrocketing. Onion prices have reached close to Rs 100 per kg in many places. Meanwhile, buyers have expressed concern over rising onion prices in many parts of the country and urged the government to take additional steps to reduce it. The price of onion in Mumbai has reached Rs 80 per kg. The government recently imposed minimum export price for onion and procured additional 2 lakh tonnes of onion for buffer stock.
