BJP MP Ramshankar Katheria Breathes a Sigh of Relief as Female MP Escapes 2-Year Sentence, Next Hearing on September 11th

Former Union Minister and Itawa MP Ram Shankar Katheria’s Sentence and Fine Suspended. Next Hearing on September 11th.

The appeal filed by BJP MP Ram Shankar Katheria regarding his sentence was accepted by the Session Court. The Special Magistrate MP/MLA Court had announced a two-year sentence and a fine of Rs. 50,000 on Saturday, but it has been suspended. The district judge has fixed September 11th as the date for the next hearing.

In November 2016, a case was registered against the former Agra MP (currently Itawa MP) Ram Shankar Katheria at the Hariparvat Police Station, Agra, on charges of assault and violence against a manager at the Torrent Power office in Saket Mall. The police had filed a chargesheet against Ram Shankar Katheria in the court. The Special Magistrate MP/MLA Court had found him guilty of violence and assault. The court had sentenced the MP to one year in prison and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.

The MP’s lawyers had filed an appeal against the sentence in the district judge’s court. After the afternoon session, the Session Court accepted the appeal and suspended the sentence and fine. The next hearing in the case is now scheduled for September 11th.
