If you’ve recently received an “emergency alert: severe” text message, you’re not alone. The Department of Telecommunication is conducting tests of the emergency alert system, which involves sending alerts to mobile phone users across India. Following similar alerts sent to Reliance Jio and BSNL users, Airtel and Vodafone customers have also reported receiving these emergency messages. These flash alerts were transmitted in both English and Hindi.
