Italy has confirmed its exit from China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Prime Minister Georgia Meloni’s administration has informed Beijing that it is pulling out of the BRI. Italy was the only major Western nation to sign on to the BRI, one of China’s most ambitious trade and infrastructure projects, in 2019. At that time America and other countries had strongly criticized Italy’s move.
