
Lucknow: An Anti-corruption Bureau team of CBI caught principal chief material manager of north eastern railway KC Joshi red handed taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. The CBI also carried out raids at the premises of accused KC Joshi at Noida and Gorakhpur which led to recovery of Rs 2.61 crore.
CBI sources said that the amount recovered could not be accounted for by the accused. CBI said that a complaint was made against an Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS) 1988 batch officer by a Gorakhpur-based private firm owner Pranav Tripathi.
Tripathi had alleged that the accused demanded an undue advantage of Rs 7 Lakh for not cancelling the registration of the complainant’s firm on GeM Portal. It was further alleged that the complainant’s firm was supplying trucks to Railways on yearly contract at Rs. 80,000 per truck per month.
CBI had laid a trap and caught the accused on accepting undue advantage of Rs 3 lakh from the Pranav.
Tripathi also alleged that his Rs 25 lakh were pending for clearance with the officer.
