Gopeshwar: About 50 meters of the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway near Pursadi village between Chamoli and Nandprayag in Uttarakhand has once again come under the grip of landslide. Due to this, the valley side of the national highway has started sinking towards the Alaknanda river, due to which traffic is being gradually evacuated from the mountain side, police said.
In view of the dangerous condition of the highway, Chamoli police is ready on the spot to protect the vehicles. Chamoli’s traffic inspector Praveen Alok and his team have also installed reflector tapes for the safety of vehicles at the landslide site, while vehicle drivers are also being requested to drive carefully at this place. At the time of Kedarnath disaster in 2013, landslides had increased a lot near Pursari, to prevent which a separate project for road stabilization was conducted with the help of big companies and experts.
Different types of engineering works were done here at the cost of crores of rupees, after which the landslide was stopped here. After about six-seven years, the highway has reached a dangerous condition due to landslides starting again at the same place. However, efforts are being made by the engineers of the National Highways Authority of India to repair the affected area by filling it with soil. This time, due to heavy rains, along with the development of new landslide areas on the highway, the old areas have also become active, due to which the traffic is getting disrupted again and again.
