Cops of Aahar police station in Bulandshahr submits ‘written apology’; court grants the man bail
Lucknow: A court in UP’s Bulandshahr summoned an entire police station and warned the cops there “not to submit any false report in future” after it came to light that they didn’t inform the family of a 26-year-old man, Mohd Nazim, who was arrested under the Arms Act.
Advocate Baljeet Singh Sishodia said on Thursday: “The court later granted Nazim bail.”
Following the summons, around 10 policemen from Aahar police station, including the SHO, appeared before the court and submitted a “written apology” on Wednesday.
Sishodia said that Nazim was arrested by police with an “illegal” knife during a routine check and booked under sections of Arms Act. He was then presented before the court of additional chief judicial magistrate, Vinay Kumar, in Anupshahr.
Sishodia further said that he was present in court on that afternoon when Nazim, who was with police, asked for “urgent help”. “He told me that police didn’t inform his family and there is no one to plead (in court) from his side.”
Sishodia agreed to represent Nazim after speaking with the latter’s family.
When police claimed in court that they called Nazim’s family “multiple times”, the investigating officer was asked to show the call history. When the court checked the call details, it was found that the family had been called “just once which went unanswered”.
“The accused man was brought in court for remand without informing his family which is against the Supreme Court guidelines. The court subsequently issued summons to the police station for submitting a ‘false’ report and gave Nazim bail,” Sishodia said.
