Cross FIRs after CWG medalist allege she
was thrashed during Holi celebrations
Lucknow: A bronze medalist of 2010 Commonwealth Games has accused a group of revelers of misbehaving with her, and her friends, on the Holi day on Monday.
The other group too has lodged a cross FIR against the weightlifter and her friends, accusing them of thrashing them without any provocation.
The FIRs have been registered in the Sushant Golf City area.
As per the complaint by the weightlifter, she along with her two male friends, were going towards Khurdahi Bazar in a car when a four-wheeler approached them and the men inside it made a cheap comment on her.
When she objected, those in the car abused her, leading to an altercation, and her two friends dialing 112.
“Before the cops could come, the men came out of their vehicles and started thrashing my friends. One of the men, Pratyush Shukla, dragged me out of my car and hit me too with some heavy weapon leaving me injured,” said the weightlifter, who received multiple injuries on her legs and other body parts.
“The head injury was so severe that I had to get four stitches done,” said the athlete.
The other group was led by Chandan Shukla, vice president of Khurdahi Bazar Gram Suraksha Samiti and a BJP leader and his other friends.
Shukla, in his police complaint, claimed that he was sitting inside his car when another car with a girl and four other boys came in an intoxicated state and started thrashing him for no reason.
SHO Sushant Golf City Anjani Kumar Mishra said that both parties have lodged an FIR and the matter is being investigated.
“We reached the site and found that the athelete was in a drunken state due to which the medical couldn’t take place,” said police.
Police also said that the athelete was the first one to hit the person.
The matter is being probed from all angles, police said.
